CEO & Co-founder
Jeroen Elfferich studied Artificial Intelligence and Sociology and, aged 20, co-founded web developer NetlinQ in 1995. As CTO he helped to grow the company to over 200 employees when it was acquired by Framfab (now LBi Group) in 2000. A year later, he co-founded Ex Machina, where he currently serves as CEO and is responsible for overall management. Jeroen has been working on online gaming technology since 1998, mobile since 2001 and second screen since 2004. His interest is in synchronous, social and interactive entertainment across mobile, web and TV.
Thomas is an all-rounder with a wide international media-network and happy to be re-united with his first love: gaming. Soon after his study Economics at the University of Amsterdam, Thomas Glas got hooked on gaming in 1994 as part of the editorial team of Power Unlimited, a leading games magazine in The Netherlands. Within Endemol and its network of affiliates Thomas pioneered in the successful development, international production and distribution of participation television and interactive entertainment formats. From 2004 and prior to joining Ex Machina in 2010, Thomas was responsible at R&D Media/3CirclesMedia for commercial successes with mobile entertainment products and for setting up television business units in Malaysia and The Netherlands.
Remon van Vliet
Remon heads the development department of Ex Machina and is lead architect for all our product development. After his Computer Science study in Rotterdam Remon joined a game development company in The Netherlands in early 2000 as a game server developer for online games where he developed an active interest in server architecture, scalability and performance. He was recruited by Ex Machina in 2003 to develop our first iteration of game server technology and has been involved with the development of our software ever since.
Lawrence (Larry) Taymor
Lawrence Taymor heads up the new US based presence of Ex Machina. He started his career in broadcast television, winning awards for producing Disney Channel programming. Lawrence founded Interactive Network Television and designed and produced over 3,500 episodes of games for network television programming from Sony, NBC, and CBS. He has created cross platform games for Sony, Warner Bros, and AOL. Lawrence was part of the core team at the Oracle settop box software spinout – Liberate technologies, managing the IPO that eventually led the company to a market cap of $4B Most recently he worked with Hulu and YouTube creating gaming around their video programming. Lawrence is a graduate of Princeton University.
Richard Morris Heads up Ex Machina UK. With almost two decades across media Richard started his career overseeing digital film productions and winning awards for New Line Cinema and Warner Brothers. He produced the world’s first online digital distribution of a feature film in cooperation with UK government body Film Council back in 2000, where he also devised the UK digital film and exhibition strategy for the Department of Trade & Industry. Richard then got involved in the mobile space where he set up a successful mobile video & TV department in Europe for Player X servicing content on behalf of partners including BBC, Endemol, Fox and Universal. Player X subsequently got purchased by Zed Worldwide where Richard established an Applications Division that became the largest provider of mobile applications to UK network carriers. Richard is also an acting member of the Technical Advisory Group (TAG) for the European Commission’s Media Pilots program.
Frank van Oirschot
Co-founder, board member
Frank is a business creative with experience in building companies around the latest technologies and changes in society. Frank is the co-founder and as a board member helps define the company strategy, finances and business planning. Frank started his first internet company in 1994 and has been in the online space ever since. In addition to his work at Ex Machina Frank is involved as an owner and strategist at various other companies. Frank van Oirschot studied business administration at the Haarlem Business School and Political Science at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam.
Managing Director Strategy & Concepts
Jeroen Doucet heads up Ex Machina’s Strategies & Concepts devision. He is an experienced media strategist with extensive operational management experience. Previously, he held higher management positions in traditional and online media organizations. He has a MA degree and a profound understanding of technology and new businessmodels
